But given the recent weather, we’ve been trying to be creative and inventive when it comes to rainy-day activities. Rather than diving in to the muddiest of puddles (Peppa Pig has a lot to answer for), my children have been honing their building, making and cooking skills. Here are a few fun ideas you could try next time the day’s a washout (i.e. tomorrow!).</span></p><p style="box-sizing: border-box; margin: 12px 0px 5px;"><strong style="box-sizing: border-box; -webkit-text-size-adjust: auto; background-color: rgba(255, 255, 255, 0);">1. My two have spent many an afternoon happily ensconced in a cardboard box, pulling each other around the kitchen. We’ve stepped things up a gear in recent weeks, by building a den.</span></p><p style="box-sizing: border-box; margin: 12px 0px 5px;"><span style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto; background-color: rgba(255, 255, 255, 0);">The easiest way to do this us to hang a bed sheet over two chairs, facing away from each other. Scatter cushions, or use a duvet on the floor inside to make it extra cosy, and pull out the fairy lights from your Christmas decoration box. You will have a guaranteed hour of peace, while they happily sit quietly under a sheet. Cardboard boxes can be used for tunnels and connecting corridors (we used a particularly large one as a princess castle, which was coloured in to pink perfection). For an extra treat, make a picnic and eat it in the tent. Something that always goes down well are “toasted” marshmallows (ordinary ones on chopsticks in our case). My two love them.</span></p><p style="box-sizing: border-box; margin: 12px 0px 5px;"><strong style="box-sizing: border-box; -webkit-text-size-adjust: auto; background-color: rgba(255, 255, 255, 0);">2. Homemade Popcorn</strong></p><a href="http://blog.thewhitecompany.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/02/Homemade-popcorn.jpg" style="box-sizing: border-box; -webkit-text-size-adjust: auto; background-color: rgba(255, 255, 255, 0);"><font color="#000000"><img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-1343" alt="Homemade popcorn" src="http://blog.thewhitecompany.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/02/Homemade-popcorn.jpg" width="785" height="525" style="box-sizing: border-box; border: 0px; vertical-align: middle; max-width: 100%; height: auto; padding: 14px 0px 16px; margin: 0px;"></font></a><p style="box-sizing: border-box; margin: 12px 0px 5px;"><span style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto; background-color: rgba(255, 255, 255, 0);">I love cooking, and think its so important to get kids involved with it from a young age. However, I do find that my two get bored after a few minutes, especially if there are lots of things they can’t do (knives, hot pans etc). So, homemade popcorn is a brilliant option. It’s far more nutritious than cakes or biscuits, quick to make and, best of all, lots of fun. There are lots if varieties of popcorn available, from bags that you put in the microwave, to blue-corn kernels, which you heat in a lightly oiled pan until popped. Once you’ve popped the corn, the world is your oyster in terms of flavours. Melt some butter (I use about 25g for every 100g of popcorn kernels), and add sugar for a caramel flavour, peanut butter for a nutty taste, or some chia and flax seeds with a squeeze of honey for a healthier treat. For a fun option, a drop of food colouring in the butter will make the popcorn any colour you choose.</span></p><p style="box-sizing: border-box; margin: 12px 0px 5px;"><strong style="box-sizing: border-box; -webkit-text-size-adjust: auto; background-color: rgba(255, 255, 255, 0);">3. Paper chains</strong></p><a href="http://blog.thewhitecompany.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/01/Paper-chains.jpg" style="box-sizing: border-box; -webkit-text-size-adjust: auto; background-color: rgba(255, 255, 255, 0);"><font color="#000000"><img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-1527" alt="Paper chains" src="http://blog.thewhitecompany.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/01/Paper-chains.jpg" width="785" height="525" style="box-sizing: border-box; border: 0px; vertical-align: middle; max-width: 100%; height: auto; padding: 14px 0px 16px; margin: 0px;"></font></a><p style="box-sizing: border-box; margin: 12px 0px 5px;"><span style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto; background-color: rgba(255, 255, 255, 0);">Barely a day goes by without one of my children giving me a “work of art”, normally a scribble on a piece of paper. They love being creative, and it keeps them busy and happy, so it works for me, too. But, rather than just painting or colouring, we have been making lovely decorations for their bedrooms. Seeing their proud faces as we hang paper chains and bunting up in their rooms is the icing on the cake.</span></p><p style="box-sizing: border-box; margin: 12px 0px 5px;"><span style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto; background-color: rgba(255, 255, 255, 0);">Paper chains are great for younger children, as they are really simple and don’t involve anything too messy. You can buy ready-glued strips, which you just lick and stick, but if you feel a bit more adventurous, and want some prettier chains, scraps of wallpaper work brilliantly, and you can match the chains to your child’s bedroom decor. Simply use glue or sticky tape to make the interlocking loops. For bunting, again wallpaper scraps work brilliantly, or any paper. Cut out diamond shapes. Fold them in half, and use sticky tape (or staples) to secure some ribbon or string inside the triangles, in the fold. You can then decorate the bunting with their names or anything your children can come up with.<a href="http://www.thewhitecompany.com/the-little-white-company/toys-and-books/fairytale-finger-painting-kit/" style="box-sizing: border-box;"> The White Company Princess finger painting kit went</a> down very well with my daughter.</span></p>Alexhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01521398023996338190noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4395713936816680973.post-59946172835952443362014-02-08T12:59:00.001+00:002014-02-08T12:59:29.486+00:00Get 'App-yFor the last few months, our whole family have been learning all about phonics, trying to help Fifi learn to read and write. It's much harder (for us grown ups, that is) than I had realised, much more than just learning ABC. Fifi loves nothing more than correcting my mispronunciation of letters ("it's mmmmmm, not muh, for mummy, silly"). So, I've been using apps to try and make learning a bit more interactive, and much more accurate than my teaching appears to be. <div><br></div><div>These are our current favourites:</div><div><br></div><div>Mr. Thorne Does Phonics</div><div><br></div><div>Possibly my favourite educational app ever (quite possibly something to do with Mr. Thorne's jaunty trilby and cheeky smile), this YouTube sensation has created some brilliant apps that engage my three year old and really make learning sounds and letters a fun experience. This is a brilliant collection of short videos, that has really helped Fifi with getting her letter sounds just right. I highly recommend it!</div><div><br></div><div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhdo3DDP-FcGJTwUE2_DU2WI8UOedS-phd5rXRroZ697x4_O5eaJDREGdN01llsXAk3CWF0HubfRV_-FSg2hijC1LZWEvh9IKg6y-bjUbMKNQgjHZpMwBBsmPN_vmTVLxsw2_7rg3vwltvZ/s640/blogger-image-1206623179.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhdo3DDP-FcGJTwUE2_DU2WI8UOedS-phd5rXRroZ697x4_O5eaJDREGdN01llsXAk3CWF0HubfRV_-FSg2hijC1LZWEvh9IKg6y-bjUbMKNQgjHZpMwBBsmPN_vmTVLxsw2_7rg3vwltvZ/s640/blogger-image-1206623179.jpg"></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><br></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;">Hip Hop Hen ABC Flashcards Songs</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><br></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhYsZ99yXtVbY7vwt87we1LX1DjJvELvHxyY0rkMTo9Nvxy0Y-vzV9BdUwnkebRgQY_gTJ1rQdEJEsZS3QGpGBhkHa_iNAJJnPWYPGZbjEDJfKWQftgA_haGxC7DSIL1OY1YG2s7wbbKdgV/s640/blogger-image-1945999473.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhYsZ99yXtVbY7vwt87we1LX1DjJvELvHxyY0rkMTo9Nvxy0Y-vzV9BdUwnkebRgQY_gTJ1rQdEJEsZS3QGpGBhkHa_iNAJJnPWYPGZbjEDJfKWQftgA_haGxC7DSIL1OY1YG2s7wbbKdgV/s640/blogger-image-1945999473.jpg"></a></div><br></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><br></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;">For a more musical approach to learning letters, Hip Hop Hen's stunning illustrated flashcard app, uses catchy, fun songs to captivate children and help them to learn phonics. Fifi really loves using this app, and spends longer playing on it than most others. Created by an experienced teacher and educational researcher and a nursery headmistress, this educational and innovative app is a brilliant approach, and feels much more like a game than learning. Hip Hop Hen's two other apps are just as fab. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><br></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;">Funimal Phonics</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><br></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;">Another flashcard style app, this one uses active animals (think dancing hippos and roaring lions) to engage imaginations. We've skied every year since having children, and definitely learnt a few tricks to make holidays, which are inherently baby unfriendly, a little easier. Here are my top tips;<div><br></div><div>Childcare</div><div><br></div><div>If you want to hit the piste, you need done form if childcare that you can rely on and feel relaxed enough to hurtle down a mountain. My two top choices are my lovely parents or using my favourite holiday Scott Dunn, who provide wonderful childcare, either in the form of a nanny or a crèche. Both options have worked really well for us! </div><div><br></div><div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjMcRrw4bIV5LGy0aAsn_frLnNbyHrOT5e-V6XmycWJbLyxuP_E4UeyZW1ByW_7RLjrl9_daUM821MEHiZLmSEM_rDZW6OFIu_hyphenhyphenepc0tT-FcR8e9Aj10THI_L6ddM02s7eMH9DTA1AwZYb/s640/blogger-image--1415243651.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjMcRrw4bIV5LGy0aAsn_frLnNbyHrOT5e-V6XmycWJbLyxuP_E4UeyZW1ByW_7RLjrl9_daUM821MEHiZLmSEM_rDZW6OFIu_hyphenhyphenepc0tT-FcR8e9Aj10THI_L6ddM02s7eMH9DTA1AwZYb/s640/blogger-image--1415243651.jpg"></a></div><br></div><div><br></div><div>Ski Boots/Kit</div><div><br></div><div>If your time skiing is as precious as it is to me, you need to be in comfortable, warm kit. This year I decided to wear my trusty old ski boots, that I had fitted pre-babies. Sadly, my feet have clearly got wider (/fatter) since carrying the weight of two children around for 9 months, and after a day of skiing, I was not only in agony, but also one toenail short. In my agony, I found the most incredible ski boot company, called Surefoot, who custom make ski boots to fit your feet and skiing style perfectly. Despite a throbbing toe, my week of skiing was salvaged, and my boots were as comfy as a pair of Uggs.</div><div><br></div><div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjsOwzcaCVP2PLO5LI_0JgjSi1ZRmV_UzCQDdntyEhBtMJSlVNZSX66LjJyoX92BuGROYWmKyxFMILvs71VYiZQszB9NAxT4cL7RqyYMXkcEuG0bcjdddoWs5DfbXHukFOECI49Q9YQYTF0/s640/blogger-image--218858899.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjsOwzcaCVP2PLO5LI_0JgjSi1ZRmV_UzCQDdntyEhBtMJSlVNZSX66LjJyoX92BuGROYWmKyxFMILvs71VYiZQszB9NAxT4cL7RqyYMXkcEuG0bcjdddoWs5DfbXHukFOECI49Q9YQYTF0/s640/blogger-image--218858899.jpg"></a></div><br></div><div><br></div><div>In terms of ski kit, I always go for performance over style, as I hate being cold. My only tips would be, pack a fresh set of clothes for everyone in your hand luggage. Sitting covered in vomit for two hours is about as bad as it gets.....</div><br></div>Alexhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01521398023996338190noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4395713936816680973.post-12899737954921211742014-01-06T13:04:00.002+00:002014-01-06T13:09:28.836+00:00Favourite ThingsHaving spent the last few weeks enjoying spending time with my family, I thought it was time to share a few of my favourite Christmas presents and purchases. I was so fortunate to receive some wonderful gifts this year (Mr. G did well!), and some brilliant beauty and make up bits and pieces, which, so far, are proving to be staples in my new year routine!<br>
<br>
Charlotte Tilbury make up<br>
<br>
Make up maestro Charlotte Tilbury has always been a huge source if inspiration to me. Her ability to wear lashings of eyeliner and sky high heels on a daily basis, combined with incredible talent in the make up world, make her one of my idols. She recently launched her own range of make up and skincare, and for Christmas I received a big bundle of goodies. I have been beyond impressed with every single product. The eye shadows are perfectly toned in their palettes, blend beautifully and last all day (I adore Uptown Girl), the Rock 'N' Kohl eyeliner sets and does not budge, the Eyebrow pencil guarantees perfect arches and Charlotte's Secret Cream is the best moisturiser I have tried in a very long time. <span id="goog_1377561854"></span>Zelens PHA+ Bio Peel Resurfacing Facial Pads<br>
<br>
Shortly before Christmas, while wandering around my local Space Nk branch, these facial pads caught my eye, and I decided to splurge. Containing Alpha and Beta hydroxy acids, they promise brighter, clearer skin, with fewer wrinkles. I've been using them daily and have definitely started to see some impressive results. My skin looks smoother and brighter, despite eating and drinking far too much over Christmas.</div><div><br></div><div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh6ZvkCE9vlaSqD-_nkh_x2kzSPhGhgmtjt9_SWy5gcJu3k2sqA_X3KxRtJZITai5gstBGP4GsAkqOhaVaiqyRq4Ukl_QlcaTAgl4eDyTKu7CzdaYDj4JJy61egmsrvrN7Bvdx8k4lraphk/s640/blogger-image--1968544473.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh6ZvkCE9vlaSqD-_nkh_x2kzSPhGhgmtjt9_SWy5gcJu3k2sqA_X3KxRtJZITai5gstBGP4GsAkqOhaVaiqyRq4Ukl_QlcaTAgl4eDyTKu7CzdaYDj4JJy61egmsrvrN7Bvdx8k4lraphk/s640/blogger-image--1968544473.jpg"></a></div><br>

Jo Malone Peony and Blush Suede<br>

A perfect present, as I adore perfume, this had quickly become my new favourite. Floral yet fresh, I adore this blousey fragrance with a hint of rose. It smells heavenly and definitely gets my mornings off to a good start!</div><div><br></div><div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg1Ixm27tflGi61_EeSBLabh9eof008if2Wd02IuUMfN2wQMAqJKaOPbGjIpQrZyODa1jTE3PEWux4_e0Nbn2PW6qlxrchZSk9n8HocLp6bOTrjM0v84VgyQ6gmF_JLjl8SX43xLDJvNu8m/s640/blogger-image--634912475.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg1Ixm27tflGi61_EeSBLabh9eof008if2Wd02IuUMfN2wQMAqJKaOPbGjIpQrZyODa1jTE3PEWux4_e0Nbn2PW6qlxrchZSk9n8HocLp6bOTrjM0v84VgyQ6gmF_JLjl8SX43xLDJvNu8m/s640/blogger-image--634912475.jpg"></a></div><br>

L'Oreal mascara<br>
<br>
Another purchase for myself, I ran out of mascara recently (shock horror!), and decided to try out a few high street brands I'd heard good things about. The two that have impressed me the most are both by L'oreal, Miss Manga, their newest offering, and Telescopic. Both give amazingly full, long, defined lashes that rival any expensive brand on the market. The Telescopic is a wetter mascara, that takes a while to dry (don't sneeze!), but I adore it. Miss Manga adds volume and really gets into the lashes, especially the lower ones. Two coats of either is enough for full, fluttery lashes.</div><div><br></div><div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh90a2bMne8mB37LfUCoWE0Bboeo8UqEetnx6kvvnsj1_vVSrZc-pn-37E0pr-9JitM669Wul7D2yVNFK5XM5qZT5zgfoEB8F9OfEew5riat2y9vV-y7URFMczeh0luPMbujQOVnlOlY2Pa/s640/blogger-image--707576816.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh90a2bMne8mB37LfUCoWE0Bboeo8UqEetnx6kvvnsj1_vVSrZc-pn-37E0pr-9JitM669Wul7D2yVNFK5XM5qZT5zgfoEB8F9OfEew5riat2y9vV-y7URFMczeh0luPMbujQOVnlOlY2Pa/s640/blogger-image--707576816.jpg"></a></div><br></div>Alexhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01521398023996338190noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4395713936816680973.post-87568308587186347132013-12-11T13:01:00.001+00:002013-12-11T13:05:21.833+00:00The Model MethodI love finding new exercise classes and concepts, but nothing has got me more excited in recent months than 'The Model Method' at Absolute Pilates. So, I thought a post on my key steps might be useful if you feel like you need to step your skincare up. I must warn you, I have a lot of steps and use loads of products...!<div><br></div><div><div><br></div><div>Step 1 CLEANSE</div><div><br></div><div>A critical step, I've always been phobic about keeping my face clean. I try and double cleanse every evening; I use a cleansing balm (currently Emma Hardie and Ren Rose) which I massage in and remove with a warm flannel. I then use a gel cleanser (SkinCeutical Age and Blemish or Dermalogica Special Cleansing Gel) with a Clarisonic. I find this gets rid of all my makeup (although if there is any residue eye make, a sweep of Bioderma gets rid of it).</div><div><br></div><div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhs5kLiN5SFAoNXnLMRYBzl7eRASqQUyDjh_FJVKqd5Zc9qn-zPZrq80SJxIbgzalkh9J4iSGSb3d50Z4dQcvAN93R0B9yu67qD4PEsbgE5S6rI8Ng9TDrBQLrAnRK5knM2ToB9lMMwVLKS/s640/blogger-image--1729675375.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhs5kLiN5SFAoNXnLMRYBzl7eRASqQUyDjh_FJVKqd5Zc9qn-zPZrq80SJxIbgzalkh9J4iSGSb3d50Z4dQcvAN93R0B9yu67qD4PEsbgE5S6rI8Ng9TDrBQLrAnRK5knM2ToB9lMMwVLKS/s640/blogger-image--1729675375.jpg"></a></div><br></div><div><br></div><div>Step 2 TONE</div><div><br></div><div>Until recently, I really believed that toners were outdated and dreadful for your skin. And I guess the old fashioned alcohol based ones are. But there are some brilliant toners on the market which help to prep your skin for products and moisturise whilst soothing. The brilliant skin guru Caroline Hirons recommends double toning, which I try and do, starting with Skinceuticals Equalising Toner to gently exfoliate (hydroxy acids in this suit my skin really well, Ren's Clarifying Toner is also great) and finishing with Neal's Yard Remedies Rose Toner to add moisture and replenish. </div><div><br></div><div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgRAaGbfgDRzkLuOOMkqzeSu9fjC5Tmy2JSEEJ87uj3rx1-KKyjBHxtsNRMyOUwuGSyWW3al9g07mi0NdzrYWkbpFGQwoaE5LeIiRmbr8ZVpKd4p1_BmGprv3YUmV3m2KWJA1jNwblCEPxi/s640/blogger-image--15886871.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgRAaGbfgDRzkLuOOMkqzeSu9fjC5Tmy2JSEEJ87uj3rx1-KKyjBHxtsNRMyOUwuGSyWW3al9g07mi0NdzrYWkbpFGQwoaE5LeIiRmbr8ZVpKd4p1_BmGprv3YUmV3m2KWJA1jNwblCEPxi/s640/blogger-image--15886871.jpg"></a></div><br></div><div><br></div><div>Step 3 TREAT</div><div><br></div><div>In the morning, I use a trio of SkinCeuticals products. I start with Phloretin CF, a fantastic anti ageing, antioxidant product that I adore, followed by Pigment Regulator, to repair sun damage, and finally Retexturing Activator to gently exfoliate and boost moisture levels. I then moisturise, currently with By Terry's Gelee de Rose, which is light and smells amazing (I also love Zelens 3T cream), and use an eye cream (either Zelens Triple action eye cream or Delarom Eye contour lifting serum).</div><div><br></div><div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiK6LDfGB2JwBAmSrCHsozkKEYZxOyg4JKi1hkUT65KqOUD6w2SLRzOy7mWt3YkhiUiB8kjglQKDKleLcl1emzq5no9gPsSNsyorGxVBhRlFE6Xj6hrsFi9VSbSm2xAdZ35gBdQ3yfVsBDN/s640/blogger-image--1306361331.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiK6LDfGB2JwBAmSrCHsozkKEYZxOyg4JKi1hkUT65KqOUD6w2SLRzOy7mWt3YkhiUiB8kjglQKDKleLcl1emzq5no9gPsSNsyorGxVBhRlFE6Xj6hrsFi9VSbSm2xAdZ35gBdQ3yfVsBDN/s640/blogger-image--1306361331.jpg"></a></div><br></div><div><br></div><div>In the evening, I alternate between using Skinceutucals Retinol 0.5 for 3-5 days in a row and Chanel Le Weekend, which are both quite strong ( if in doubt, seek advice, particularly for Retinol products), with the Pigment Regulator. I then slap on a layer of Creme De La Mer The Concentrate under a final facial oil (Trilogy Rosehip or Nude Progenius Oil).</div><div><br></div><div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhxr8A7UVlpmtulPc0zGoaPAu8JxuH05AJWbO2CB5PlporzsHa05uFCjA6tcrfuIiYMW173hZrT5BraQ2cdkG2Rg9-EmkARNzQbNCc6fV6JAbjB6ASjMxKdf9ooXi04KNbQqCOOljjnO3VL/s640/blogger-image--535624668.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhxr8A7UVlpmtulPc0zGoaPAu8JxuH05AJWbO2CB5PlporzsHa05uFCjA6tcrfuIiYMW173hZrT5BraQ2cdkG2Rg9-EmkARNzQbNCc6fV6JAbjB6ASjMxKdf9ooXi04KNbQqCOOljjnO3VL/s640/blogger-image--535624668.jpg"></a></div><br></div><div><br></div><div>Step 4 PROTECT</div><div><br></div><div>My final step every morning is to use a sunscreen. I have about four on rotation, at the moment I love Dermalogica skin perfect Primer, which makes your skin look great, Zo Skin Health Oclipse (another sunscreen and primer) and SkinCeuticals Ultra Facial Defense in sunnier days.</div><div><br></div><div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjAKA_jhf7AlYcIFTmfpZqDrFbQuvJK73RC8AnpA6tr394y5swslDUMZgU4ILgLS6kqs5ikurtc4osSuwXwMS4ohPgRcg-ZF2hw7AUppraFIw838cMictz7_7GDhsMmMOdwTvu4_1YIAVeG/s640/blogger-image-1366922998.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjAKA_jhf7AlYcIFTmfpZqDrFbQuvJK73RC8AnpA6tr394y5swslDUMZgU4ILgLS6kqs5ikurtc4osSuwXwMS4ohPgRcg-ZF2hw7AUppraFIw838cMictz7_7GDhsMmMOdwTvu4_1YIAVeG/s640/blogger-image-1366922998.jpg"></a></div><br></div><div><br></div><div>So that's my general, everyday routine, and some of my current favourite products. I also try and have regular facials (not so regular since babies came along!) and anti ageing treatments, and use face masks twice a week (I adore La Prarie and Sisley masks, my credit card is less enthusiastic).</div></div><div><br></div><div><br></div>Alexhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01521398023996338190noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4395713936816680973.post-16254996585290283182013-11-04T12:17:00.001+00:002013-11-04T12:17:21.733+00:00Cuddle Up in CashmereWith the weather getting colder by the day, we've been entering into daily battles of whether or not my daughter will wear a coat/hat/scarf etc. Arthur is slightly more male in expressing his opinion on such matter, simply choosing to rip off whichever woollen article he dislikes and throw on the floor. So, I was thrilled to receive a deliciously soft bundle from Olivier Baby last week, containing the most gorgeous bobble hats for my two terrors. Soft, warm, easy to put on, and cool enough to grace Fifi's head, we've been struggling to get these gorgeous hats off! They're also priced so well for cashmere, costing £28.<div><br></div><div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhI4CjBnUcOuJtSgsGgLreexbFETpAB7WwQwn_za8Sd2333qcFW9ey1HLU0bN3G3gdPtNn2jGuHvptdgGryCs-wvr35oc4dKOjTThoJV6SpYBaRIbJElVIUmg9si7-zcdmUtvOusuP848PQ/s640/blogger-image-2052544471.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhI4CjBnUcOuJtSgsGgLreexbFETpAB7WwQwn_za8Sd2333qcFW9ey1HLU0bN3G3gdPtNn2jGuHvptdgGryCs-wvr35oc4dKOjTThoJV6SpYBaRIbJElVIUmg9si7-zcdmUtvOusuP848PQ/s640/blogger-image-2052544471.jpg"></a></div>Olivier baby also have the amazing Design Your Own jumper range, where you can choose colour , trim and picture. Despite exercising 3 or 4 times a week, nothing was making me feel better. So, I decided to start on a healthy eating regime, beginning with a juice detox.<div><br></div><div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhXyDw12X6MjTDX2-Z9WbDtxJqWTH0Mc8q3YjpPI1D3HpOOM1Q0gezeKde5QOTL5IitzMCnwgyC9Q1gkqNTtBiPp5d3hnLBueEKTw7HGg9atV0x4L79K6kuYgt9En0j46OkIGHXbaaP8KAy/s640/blogger-image--95158395.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhXyDw12X6MjTDX2-Z9WbDtxJqWTH0Mc8q3YjpPI1D3HpOOM1Q0gezeKde5QOTL5IitzMCnwgyC9Q1gkqNTtBiPp5d3hnLBueEKTw7HGg9atV0x4L79K6kuYgt9En0j46OkIGHXbaaP8KAy/s640/blogger-image--95158395.jpg"></a></div><br><div><br></div><div>The lovely people at Purifyne, sent me a 3 day signature cleanse; a yummy array of organic, cold pressed juices, with lots of additional supplements thrown in, to really clear out the system. </div><div><br></div><div>I can't lie, it was hard. Watching Mr.G hide in a kitchen cupboard in order to eat ice cream without me seeing, was a low spot. The second day, was really hard. I felt exhausted, with flu like symptoms, and went to bed obscenely early. But, before I put off too much, after 3 days, I felt incredible. Seriously amazing. I felt energised, postive and slim. I lost a few pounds, and my 'mummy tummy' was really flat. I felt full of health and vitality. And bloody proud of myself. So proud in fact that I continued cleansing (with a more homemade approach, buying good quality shop bought juices) for a further two days. </div><div><br></div><div>In fact, I'd go as far as to say it has totally changed my approach to food. I've always been a comfort eater, diet coke junkie and partial to way too much wine. But cutting it out completely, made me realise how much caffeine, alcohol and sugar can negatively affect your mood, weight and skin. Mr. G gave up caffeine last week ( he was drinking up to 4 pints of coffee a day, seriously !), having seen the massive boost in my energy levels, and totally agreed. It's shocking how much we rely on these things, which do seem to make you feel worse in the long run.</div><div><br></div><div>I'm going to try and cleanse every two months, and am eating a much healthier diet in the interim. Alkaline food (see Honestly Healthy for more info) agrees with me, as does a vegan ( ish, I need a bacon sandwich every once in a while ) diet. I am feeling better than ever, and I put it all down to my juice cleanse !</div><div><br></div><div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEivMCPZdb_urvi2BU6qVkOK6DYPkGStsw1awJbnmTQmsX_RV5AMIXx6u6bLCZdoaiDSS98IPkWcw3GW_79x3X8EnHQBv6PzFcLh_tMFxQMt5PJ00FRRjjnBbXVWv0plfL5-eMBDikFtI3BV/s640/blogger-image-1291172800.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEivMCPZdb_urvi2BU6qVkOK6DYPkGStsw1awJbnmTQmsX_RV5AMIXx6u6bLCZdoaiDSS98IPkWcw3GW_79x3X8EnHQBv6PzFcLh_tMFxQMt5PJ00FRRjjnBbXVWv0plfL5-eMBDikFtI3BV/s640/blogger-image-1291172800.jpg"></a></div><br></div><div>Purifyne Cleanse, see www.purifynecleanse.com for more details. Whisky and Water by Noble Isle was always going to be a winner in our house; It's Mr.G's tipple of choice, and having met in Scotland, it holds a special place in our hearts. The scent is so evocative of honeyed barley and smooth maltiness, I adore it. But as a soap, I wasn't sure if I'd end up smelling like I'd been hitting the bottle before the school run!<div><br></div><div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjmsj2M1mmuZekqOESogEV1aRrszlvzmBEcBSkk686HNDa_Z4WVslGF0SLI5A8lfwhJGOlcggu2qbzvn7tDHFiilAopssUckelK7BazS-DGN8k-DTnNzzUyM67g1BZqqHjp3gp_mRs8EJHn/s640/blogger-image--2041001619.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjmsj2M1mmuZekqOESogEV1aRrszlvzmBEcBSkk686HNDa_Z4WVslGF0SLI5A8lfwhJGOlcggu2qbzvn7tDHFiilAopssUckelK7BazS-DGN8k-DTnNzzUyM67g1BZqqHjp3gp_mRs8EJHn/s640/blogger-image--2041001619.jpg"></a></div><br><div><br></div><div>How wrong I was. The scent is sublime. Made from barley sourced from the Balvenie disterillery, it has the right balance of sweetness and subtle notes of whisky. Blind tested by my mum, she took a while to identify that it was actually whisky, identifying the honeyed smokiness and almost heathery notes, not hardcore whisky! </div><div><br></div><div>I think this would make the most amazing gift for anyone that loves whisky. Green People's Organic Babies range is packed full if natural, organic ingredients to cleanse, soften and repair delicate skin. The lavender baby wash smells heavenly, and leaves my grubby kids softly scented and relaxed for bedtime. The soothing baby salve however is rapidly becoming a hero product.<div><br></div><div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjwOPvoix62rsHfqtdHaH6bZr89-IYOIRYW43Mn31NM7hebgbGt0aftHn15AQsutmVGZP6O_chDOM73FBrqU5_g-sybqnJ6Ef69uilYua2-VmaRqcyhPP95cS6YGPOzKnNp49sbYUX7FOCk/s640/blogger-image--2003351566.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjwOPvoix62rsHfqtdHaH6bZr89-IYOIRYW43Mn31NM7hebgbGt0aftHn15AQsutmVGZP6O_chDOM73FBrqU5_g-sybqnJ6Ef69uilYua2-VmaRqcyhPP95cS6YGPOzKnNp49sbYUX7FOCk/s640/blogger-image--2003351566.jpg"></a></div><br></div><br><div><br></div><div>Not only is it great for dry patches and sore spots on children, I have found so many uses for me. First up, it's a great lip balm and cuticle treatment, sinking in quickly, and leaving them soft. I've also recently developed some eczema (I think a result of me cutting out meat and dairy, without upping my seed and nut intake enough...but more on that another time), and this balm instantly relieved itching and tightness on the super dry patches. The body wash has also been great for washing my dry skin, with no chemicsls to irritate it. Finally, I have been using it as a cleansing balm, massaging it in to my skin, them using a hot cloth to remove it. It leaves skin so clean and fresh, I love it.</div><div><br></div><div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgPdkbDkoRFXLXtlNAZVnqHJkzuojaCIkZr74XUoKn8CsVB9RHu7cuuZP2fppoXT8GZGAyzKbpMt8HhCiVwxgdDAuasBNRIeyVUZCramkG5ptxbObvN7LeJwR-mTt5FnZRMiPGUxYtRjkrC/s640/blogger-image--742780529.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgPdkbDkoRFXLXtlNAZVnqHJkzuojaCIkZr74XUoKn8CsVB9RHu7cuuZP2fppoXT8GZGAyzKbpMt8HhCiVwxgdDAuasBNRIeyVUZCramkG5ptxbObvN7LeJwR-mTt5FnZRMiPGUxYtRjkrC/s640/blogger-image--742780529.jpg"></a></div><br></div><div><br></div><div>So, there you go, a fab range for kids and adults, look no further! </div></div><div><br></div><div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiASD3E2w1fbJATaf51PHoy5CaGDh2GwYRw2kdzcUPD3TEqCmRuSOhaSDsKiJ71Eu4ZRhHX0-WvYe3dFVT4rhYA1rTOKygY6xSw_6WxxPylBV18dZZ4ouHznhYhGYhO9d5P-b_7PrBoZwWf/s640/blogger-image--446827902.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiASD3E2w1fbJATaf51PHoy5CaGDh2GwYRw2kdzcUPD3TEqCmRuSOhaSDsKiJ71Eu4ZRhHX0-WvYe3dFVT4rhYA1rTOKygY6xSw_6WxxPylBV18dZZ4ouHznhYhGYhO9d5P-b_7PrBoZwWf/s640/blogger-image--446827902.jpg"></a></div><br></div><div><br></div><div>Green People Organic Babies, available from greenpeople.co.uk. </div><div><br></div><div>Lavender Baby Wash £7.25</div><div>Baby Save £9.95</div>Alexhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01521398023996338190noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4395713936816680973.post-8339513590693255762013-09-13T14:03:00.001+01:002013-09-13T14:03:31.410+01:00NonaboxThis morning I received my first Nonabox. If you haven't heard of Nonabox, it's basically a box designed for mums, delivered to your door once a month full of goodies that have been picked for each month of your pregnancy, or your babies life. I received a 1 year old box for Arthur.<div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgECqB6X5fpQFdX8Y415whsOEQRjkvlci0zkcUrVUffCzulK24aE4XsgCETwoICOk4vVLJcamPjT2vytT6v6pEGQS5NF2KRw19Oh4cQ0_QfMscrPC0Utejmf2D5AIp51Oh1lMbXgxspFOP2/s640/blogger-image-1193709263.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgECqB6X5fpQFdX8Y415whsOEQRjkvlci0zkcUrVUffCzulK24aE4XsgCETwoICOk4vVLJcamPjT2vytT6v6pEGQS5NF2KRw19Oh4cQ0_QfMscrPC0Utejmf2D5AIp51Oh1lMbXgxspFOP2/s640/blogger-image-1193709263.jpg"></a></div><br></div><div>It contained lots of great things that I'd never heard of, like a really snugly lavender filled cushion from Cloud B, that Fifi quickly adopted and adores. A Gumigem, a strange looking chewing toy, has been the first teether that Arthur has actually chewed, and the WaterWipes are brilliant for sensitive skin as they are 99.9% water based. And the addition of a new offering from Ella's Kitchen, a favourite in our house, was perfect!</div><div><br></div><div>What really struck me, was just how brilliant this would be as a gift for a new mum or pregnant friend, especially for first babies. It's such a fun way to discover innovative and useful products.</div><div><br></div><div>Nonabox costs £25 per month, with the ability to send gift boxes. I don't think I have ever wanted to buy shoes as much as I do today. I've been coveting e Charlotte Olympia Zodiac flats for weeks, praying Mr.G would buy me a pair, and being sadly disappointed! And today, while perusing the Charlotte Olympia site (window shopping I promise), I nearly died when I saw the new Incy collection. Charlotte Olympia in mini sizes.....OMG.<br>

Have you ever seen such adorable shoes? I am a huge Charlotte Olympia fan, she makes the quirkiest shoes, which are super comfortable. The Incy shoes come with a colouring book and crayons, so your little one can be both stylish and entertained! So, the shopping list has now doubled, one pair for me and one for Fifi. One day!<div><br></div><div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgIYMnZusS4x0-O-wlN4eJRr3NzwhWXRQDCAcw0e09nfOek1fNMtErXUplz_iz0zLoldZAGadY5CI6_pjm5xhBU4Nc13VikRT6Y_SNZgcmjtVz6LBWTgpUh1xjsrgo_J8DOez1IgUBroMKi/s640/blogger-image-956883190.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgIYMnZusS4x0-O-wlN4eJRr3NzwhWXRQDCAcw0e09nfOek1fNMtErXUplz_iz0zLoldZAGadY5CI6_pjm5xhBU4Nc13VikRT6Y_SNZgcmjtVz6LBWTgpUh1xjsrgo_J8DOez1IgUBroMKi/s640/blogger-image-956883190.jpg"></a></div><br></div><br></div>Alexhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01521398023996338190noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4395713936816680973.post-51765578459666859902013-08-20T11:26:00.003+01:002013-08-20T11:26:57.124+01:00The South of France for familiesLast week we went on a family holiday to the South of France, which was heavenly. We stayed in a beach house, just outside St.Tropez, and whiled away hours on the beach, drinking rose (the grown ups, not the children) and yacht spotting (I'm sure I saw Simon Cowell and his hareem of women sail past). The reason we chose the Cote D'Azur (apart from it being a beautiful part of the world) was because all the reports I'd had suggested it was super child friendly (and yes, the pictures of Elton John en famille were enough to convince me that it was the destination for us......). But, over the week we definitely learnt a few things. Here are my top tips for a family trip to the South of France<br />
<br />
1. Club 55 is not child friendly unless you are Elton John.<br />
<br />
You can't go to St.Tropez without visiting Pampelonne Beach, a huge stretch of sandy beach with a coastline heaving with boats bigger than English counties, and super cool beach restaurants all the way down the shore. Of the restaurants and bars, Club 55 is the most famous, and frequented by the rich and famous. We went for lunch at the start of our trip, and although enjoyed it (well, I did, I don't think Mr.G enjoyed getting the bill so much), were quite surprised at how badly kitted up for children it was. I don't know where Elton changes baby Elijah, but I found myself crouched on a stone floor, in the tiniest toilet cubicle, feeling guilty for putting a dirty baby wipe in a bin. And maybe baby Elijah has incredible sitting skills, but the high chair we asked for arrived after a short 30 minute wait, was literally a chair on big legs. No straps or supports. Arthur was much happier eating sand on the floor. Although the Oligarch next to us looked less than impressed when he started filling his sandal with sand. And, although the cooling jets of water are amazing (Mr.G is trying to install them in our garden, using the hose pipe and a cocktail stick, the effects are less tropical cooling mist, and more London drizzle), they made Fifi's ipad (FYI the accessory du jour, every child had one, obviously) rather damp and made Fifi's super curl hair frizz up like crazy. There was no way she was going to secure a playdate with Zachary with frizzy hair.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhfuFajQR5U_cUHOp-i5F0WUYRTY49IuilNX3dpUckKTzXVdFddg6D6CLqB8cPl6S4rcAuyxAmmfaDDIQqRAO4kySfSFYuORVyaJCO1xmg0n1HjpF3XQ9UoLLNHrKLqhYKAvePulXp17_-d/s1600/france+1.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhfuFajQR5U_cUHOp-i5F0WUYRTY49IuilNX3dpUckKTzXVdFddg6D6CLqB8cPl6S4rcAuyxAmmfaDDIQqRAO4kySfSFYuORVyaJCO1xmg0n1HjpF3XQ9UoLLNHrKLqhYKAvePulXp17_-d/s320/france+1.JPG" width="240" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhYan5SabrdNCFmBY-SJBB5alaTphbDwhgRHyomTByAvRBrWX0eUdJbRWkM5aSWwwD29sHRCxmFU2OxXvF2Xssg6dXfSE0bK20068xoX_UQ5-pIypvydya8hlSWVoehNIQXIbh94_I-tp8y/s1600/france+3.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhYan5SabrdNCFmBY-SJBB5alaTphbDwhgRHyomTByAvRBrWX0eUdJbRWkM5aSWwwD29sHRCxmFU2OxXvF2Xssg6dXfSE0bK20068xoX_UQ5-pIypvydya8hlSWVoehNIQXIbh94_I-tp8y/s320/france+3.JPG" width="240" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Cooling the baby in the water mist</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
To be fair, the beach was beautiful, the food and wine sublime, but Club 55 is just not great for young children. We found Cabane Bambou, a little further down the beach so much better for them. Very relaxed, with children's options on the menu and lots of space for them to play.<br />
<br />
2. Aqualand......<br />
<br />
One of the big attractions for children along the Cote D'Azur is Aqualand, an amazing water park with slides, pools and all sorts of fun things for kids to do. Suffice to say its hot, grotty, expensive and somewhere I never plan to revisit. In fact, I have renamed it Verucca-land. A much more accurate description.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEia0gOtPTvM6zYJs_Xwp5T1w5l88QYXYeVD7DwRVl25OsL_mLTvX-m4bWAe9ZINs2NZP3O4D0RTKEfPvQNmhrUsDtH1kzzgi_aFrJPSQOyEWiGB3CiKNE2zUtyyJI4_donXyhi2sS6IEMWR/s1600/france+2.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEia0gOtPTvM6zYJs_Xwp5T1w5l88QYXYeVD7DwRVl25OsL_mLTvX-m4bWAe9ZINs2NZP3O4D0RTKEfPvQNmhrUsDtH1kzzgi_aFrJPSQOyEWiGB3CiKNE2zUtyyJI4_donXyhi2sS6IEMWR/s320/france+2.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
3. Don't Drive Anywhere<br />
<br />
Someone mentioned to me that the traffic along the coast was quite bad. They lied. The traffic along the coast is not 'quite' bad, it's horrific. It took us two and a half hours to drive 20km. We got overtaken by the same joggers at least 5 times, cooing with delight when we 're-overtook' them, and sighing in despair every time their bobbing heads ran past our windows. And, as you can imagine, the kids loved being stuck in the car for hours at a time. Fifi delighted in telling us she needed to wee every 5 minutes, as a tactic to get us to stop the car and let her out, only interspersed with shouting 'out, out, out' every few minutes. My advice is to befriend a rich person and borrow their yacht. Or, if your rich friends are busy, try the boat shuttle, which my children adored.<br />
<br />
4. Nice airport is slightly more baby friendly....but don't hire a car<br />
<br />
We found Nice airport to be pretty well set up for families. They have a dedicated security area for families with young children and pushchairs, and a playroom with a handful of toys, which means they can have a run around and stretch their legs pre-flight. They also have baby changing facilities (a treat, my first changing table in nearly a week). But, if you are hiring a car, bewarned. The rental offices are miles away from the terminal we had to use, and involve a 5 minute bus ride, where you have to get all of your suitcases off the trolley (Mr.G delighted in lugging my 23kg suitcase, filled with fancy clothes for our glamorous lunches with Elton and David in St.Tropez), onto the bus, with your children and buggy, whilst being pushed and shoved by anyone who fancies it. After bundling off the bus, we had managed to lose our only Euro, so struggled to get another trolley, and when we finally got 3 suitcases, 2 children, one pushchair and ourselves moving in the direction of the car rental office, we were met by hour long queues in a glass roofed building with no air con. When we finally found our hire car, which seemed to be artfully hidden in the farthest recesses of the world's largest car park, we realised the child seats hadn't been put in. While Mr.G struggled to start the car, we had to haggle for car seats, which we were then told were not alowed to be fitted by anyone at the car rental company, as they weren't insured. Cue another 30 minutes of trying to fit two very old, cumbersome car seats with only French instructions. My advice...? If your rich friend is busy on hiss yacht, ask to borrow his helicopter.Alexhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01521398023996338190noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4395713936816680973.post-78215427334035799252013-08-06T13:59:00.001+01:002013-08-06T13:59:21.162+01:00Beautiful Bangles<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">It was my birthday a few weeks ago, and I decided to treat myself to some jewellery Juliana Cassandro designs gorgeous bangles in an array of styles, which can be totally customised with a personal message. Perfect as a gift for anyone, particularly new mums, as the bracelets look stunning when filled with children's names or birthdays, but how romantic would it be to be given one with a secret love message on (take note Mr. G). I opted for three silver bangles, one with words and a heart charm, one with my children's names interspersed with tiny diamonds, and one with important dates and little gold hearts. </span><br />

They are all mind blowingly good, and most are pretty affordable....</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">Inhibitif</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">Inhibitif is a serum (very watery) that you put on any area that you have unwanted hair, twice daily, and in a couple of weeks, the hair just stops growing. Really. It just stops. And, it works on me (quite unhairy!) and Mr. G (half human half yeti), and lots of other people I know with varying types and quantities of hair! I am so overwhelmed by the results, its much more effective and less painful than laser hair removal, and a zillion times cheaper. The only draw back is that you have to slap it on twice a day religiously, if you start to forget, it doesn't work. But, in my opinion, it's totally worth it, and I am thrilled with the results,</span><br />

<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">Baby Foot Callus Remover</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">This is a slightly weirder product, but I adore it. It's a gel that slowly dissolves the hard skin on your feet, to reveal soft, smooth skin. It takes two hours to work, involving putting your feet in plastic bags filled with the gel, and then rinsing off after a couple of hours. A few days later, in a rather revolting fashion, your skin will start to peel off, and whilst your husband may watch in shock and horror as you peel your feet, even he will be impressed with how soft they are afterwards! I've tried everything to maintain smooth skin on my feet (I am a barefoot blogger, I love not wearing shoes, which makes the skin on my feet very hard), and this is the best thing I have come across so far. The results last for ages, unlike with filing and shaving, so you don't have to repulse family too frequently!</span><br />

<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">Therapie Himalayan Detox Salts</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">These bath salts have been described as natural valium, and given my dreadful sleeping habits, I snapped these up the second I found them online. They're very expensive, but goodness, they do work. I slept so well after a soak in these, and woke up the next morning feeling relaxed and refreshed. </span><br />

<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">Excuse the irritating name (I actually despise it, I get what they are trying to do, but why bother???), becuase once you get past it, you will find an amazing body enhancing lotion, that makes your legs look a little bit more like a Victoria's Secret angel and less like cold, wobbly porridge. It comes in several shades (I like plain for winter and medium for summer), and it really makes your skin look amazing. It is packed full of light reflecting pigment (but not sparkle), so your skin glows in an ethereal sort of way. It makes cellulite look less offensive, and disguises bruises and bumps (the addition of arnica also helps if you bruise easily like me). A fab product for a night out or for the first time you have to wear swimwear in public after two babies (make mine a metric ton please).</span><br />

Any regular readers will know that we have not had much success in the family holiday department since children came along, struggling with jet lag, lots of illness and generally finding that our children hate travelling further than the M25. However, I had heard wonderful things about the Anassa hotel, and it's fabulous creche, and decided that we just had to try it out.</span><br />

<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">The flight out was long, arduous and involved lots of apologies to neighbouring passengers for the sheer volume of my children's screams, and we arrived at the hotel frazzled and exhausted. But, as we walked into the breath taking entrance hall, full of cool limestone and gently bubbling water features, the stress started to dissipate. We were taken to our rooms straight away, as the children needed to sleep. We had opted for interconnecting Garden suites, which were more than ample for a family of four. Fifi crawled into her super king sized bed, and commented on how soft the sheets were compared to her "scratchy ones at home" (sadly, Frette don't make cot sized bed linen just yet) while Arthur fell into a slumber in his cot.</span><br />

<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">The rest of the week involved a mixture of lounging by the pool, swimming in the sea, eating ice creams, hiring boats and swimming with wild dolphins and a few visits to the divine spa (the QMS Medicosmetics facial was incredible). The children enjoyed the creche, and we felt so happy leaving them in the capable hands of Alex and Lorna while we relaxed for the first time in years!</span><br />

<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">It's such a great hotel for children, really well thought through. There are several swimming pools, so we found it easy to find a quiet corner to teach Fifi to swim and splash. Our fussy eating children loved the choices at breakfast, and tucked into the evening buffet and BBQ. A few evenings, when they were too tired to stay up and go to the restaurant for dinner, we ordered it to the room, which is complimentary for children under 2.</span><br />

<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">I also adored the hotel shop, which had the most wonderful edit of summer fashion from labels like Heidi Klein, Jimmy Choo, Prada and Vilebrequin. It was my birthday whilst we were away, and I was rather pleased that Mr.G had forgotten my present and had to hurriedly find one.....!</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">We had such a wonderful stay at Anassa. It's a great option for a family beach holiday without the long haul flight. My only real criticism was that it is quite expensive (bottled water is <span style="background-color: white; color: #444444; font-size: x-small; line-height: 17.77777862548828px;">€</span>5.50, which adds up when you are trying to keep 2 children hydrated in thirty degree heat). But, if your budget can stretch, this is definitely not a hotel to be missed, a combination of super luxe glamour with family friendly facilities.....heaven!</span><br />

Enclothed, <span style="background-color: white; font-size: 13px; line-height: 18px;">is a brand new online concept which helps men update their wardrobe with the latest fashion collections, hassle-free. Recently developed and launched by young entrepreneurs, Dana Zingher and Levi Young, Enclothed is a premium online personal styling service which is aimed at solving one of life’s simple problems – a lack of time or desire to go shopping in stores or online. </span></span><br />
<span style="background-color: white; font-size: 13px; line-height: 18px;"><span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span></span>
<span style="background-color: white; font-size: 13px; line-height: 18px;"><span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">Now, Mr. G hates anything to do with shopping or fashion. He would wear a suit every day of the week if he could, and has no idea how to wear anything else with confidence, let alone shop for it. With two young children, I just don't have the time to take him shopping (and listen to him moan about how expensive everything is......#boring). So, he signed up to Enclothed last week, and received his first box yesterday. It's a very personal service, with your own dedicated stylist, who you can email and give lots of input to, as well as filling in the very thorough online forms, to get an idea of style. The idea is, that over time, your stylist will understand your taste and body better and better. You can also tailor your box in terms of budget, items that you want included, or if you want clothing for a specific event (e.g. a holiday or a wedding).</span></span><br />

<span style="background-color: white; font-size: 13px; line-height: 18px;"><span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">In Mr.G's first box were a few pairs of trousers and shorts, two shirts, some t shirts, shoes, a belt, a jacket and a jumper. There was a great mix of colours, textures and brands (as well as price points), and Mr.G decided to keep over a third of the items. In particular, he adored the Antoine and Stanley shoes, which he wore to work this morning! </span></span><br />

If you have no idea what I'm talking about, watch the video below. But, to cut to the point, I have a face which scowls rather than smiles, frowns in the face of friendliness, and generally looks bitchy.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<iframe allowfullscreen='allowfullscreen' webkitallowfullscreen='webkitallowfullscreen' mozallowfullscreen='mozallowfullscreen' width='320' height='266' src='https://www.youtube.com/embed/3v98CPXNiSk?feature=player_embedded' frameborder='0'></iframe></div>
<br />
The news was delivered to me last week, over a romantic meal with Mr.G. Looking a bit nervous, he blurted out that he thought my face was a bit "cross looking". I thought I reacted with a look of innocent puzzlement, but clearly not, as he, with enthusiasm, said "Now, now! You look really mean. It's not the frowning so much, I guess the Botox fixed that, more the smile with dead eyes coupled with the sneering expression."<br />
<br />
Wow. What could I say? At first I was cross. I was sitting there, thinking what a lovely time we were having, when I get hit with that. Mr, G started to twitch nervously. As well as having a Bitchy Resting Face, I also do not take criticism well, and he knows it. I could see him deliberating how long he had left with his manhood still in tact. But, as images of rusty scissors and testicular earrings came to mind (perhaps that is the problem!) I suddenly realised that he might be on to something. I came to accept, in that second of realisation, that I have Bitchy Resting Face.<br />

<br />
Now, I am not alone in this. There are millions of sufferers out there, some more famous than others. You know that while Robert Pattinson whispered sweet nothings into her ear, Kristen Stewart looked bitchy. No matter how many times David brings her breakfast in bed, Victoria Beckham will still scowl at him. And, no matter how cute the child bearing flowers, the Queen will still look very unimpressed. I am in good company.<br />
<br />

However, I like a challenge. So whilst on holiday last week, I decided to try and conquer my 'problem', and really work at looking happy and friendly ("it's-all about the eyes, smile with your eyes" the eternally cheerful Mr.G helpfully suggested). It didn't come easily though, I struggled to look nice without really trying. My most successful tactic was repeating favourite funny stories to myself. So as I swam in the pool, I reminded myself of the time Mr.G flew off the back of a treadmill in the gym. But, the lady looking directly at my face, which was twitching between Bitchy Resting Face and internal laughter, looked positively afraid, and backed away quickly like she thought I was crazy. Sitting in the bar one evening, making an effort to look friendly and happy, I recalled the time Mr.G got a padlock stuck on his toe and had to get industrial help to remove it, but no one approached or even smiled. Even the waiter approached with trepidation.<br />

So, I've decided to accept my fate. I have Bitchy Resting Face, and I'm ok with that. Lets be honest, if it works for the Queen, who am I to argue?Alexhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01521398023996338190noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4395713936816680973.post-9031917035628927532013-07-12T11:15:00.001+01:002013-07-25T13:33:05.153+01:00Gas and Heir<div style="-webkit-composition-fill-color: rgba(130, 98, 83, 0.0976563); -webkit-composition-frame-color: rgba(191, 107, 82, 0.496094); -webkit-tap-highlight-color: rgba(26, 26, 26, 0.292969); font-family: Noteworthy; font-size: 18px; line-height: 24px;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">I can't step away from my ipad at the moment, just in case Baby Windsor comes along and I miss it. Every "Breaking News" banner that rolls across Sky News gets my pulse racing; I cannot wait! So, I thought I'd write some words of wisdom for the Mummy and Daddy to be, things that I wish I'd known before I embarked on the adventure of a lifetime!</span></div>
<div style="-webkit-composition-fill-color: rgba(130, 98, 83, 0.0976563); -webkit-composition-frame-color: rgba(191, 107, 82, 0.496094); -webkit-tap-highlight-color: rgba(26, 26, 26, 0.292969); font-family: Noteworthy; font-size: 18px; line-height: 24px;">

<div style="-webkit-composition-fill-color: rgba(130, 98, 83, 0.0976563); -webkit-composition-frame-color: rgba(191, 107, 82, 0.496094); -webkit-tap-highlight-color: rgba(26, 26, 26, 0.292969); font-family: Noteworthy; font-size: 18px; line-height: 24px;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">1. It is tough. Babies are amazing, but, even with a full contingent of nannies, nurses and super-grandma's (Carole is so going to be incredi-gran, and lets not even think about his/her great grandma!), having your first baby is the hardest and scariest thing in the world. Just know it gets easier with every week that passes, and, one day, they WILL sleep....</span></div>
<div style="-webkit-composition-fill-color: rgba(130, 98, 83, 0.0976563); -webkit-composition-frame-color: rgba(191, 107, 82, 0.496094); -webkit-tap-highlight-color: rgba(26, 26, 26, 0.292969); font-family: Noteworthy; font-size: 18px; line-height: 24px;">

<div style="-webkit-composition-fill-color: rgba(130, 98, 83, 0.0976563); -webkit-composition-frame-color: rgba(191, 107, 82, 0.496094); -webkit-tap-highlight-color: rgba(26, 26, 26, 0.292969); font-family: Noteworthy; font-size: 18px; line-height: 24px;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">2. It's amazing. Babies are bundles of gorgeousness, which, provided you're not too exhausted to enjoy, give the most rewarding love you can imagine. Take a few minutes every day to watch them breathe, sleep and figure life out. Even now, watching my children rub their eyes when they're sleepy fills my heart with love. Treasure every moment, they grow up so fast.</span></div>
<div style="-webkit-composition-fill-color: rgba(130, 98, 83, 0.0976563); -webkit-composition-frame-color: rgba(191, 107, 82, 0.496094); -webkit-tap-highlight-color: rgba(26, 26, 26, 0.292969); font-family: Noteworthy; font-size: 18px; line-height: 24px;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="-webkit-composition-fill-color: rgba(130, 98, 83, 0.0976563); -webkit-composition-frame-color: rgba(191, 107, 82, 0.496094); -webkit-tap-highlight-color: rgba(26, 26, 26, 0.292969); font-family: Noteworthy; font-size: 18px; line-height: 24px;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">3. It is a universal truth that is ignored by most media and celebrity outlets, but post birth, you look awful. Wobbly flesh, oversized boobs, and all manner of other ills. You feel grim, and, I, for one, looked pretty scary. Kate, you will look better 2 hours post partum than most of us will ever look, but my tip would be, don't beat yourself up too much. Every silvery stretch mark and extra pound is a battle scar from the most incredible miracle you have just performed. Yes, I wanted rid ASAP, but do it in your own time. </span></div>
<div style="-webkit-composition-fill-color: rgba(130, 98, 83, 0.0976563); -webkit-composition-frame-color: rgba(191, 107, 82, 0.496094); -webkit-tap-highlight-color: rgba(26, 26, 26, 0.292969); font-family: Noteworthy; font-size: 18px; line-height: 24px;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="-webkit-composition-fill-color: rgba(130, 98, 83, 0.0976563); -webkit-composition-frame-color: rgba(191, 107, 82, 0.496094); -webkit-tap-highlight-color: rgba(26, 26, 26, 0.292969); font-family: Noteworthy; font-size: 18px; line-height: 24px;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">4. Lean on your other half. Mr. G has been my rock, in labour and the early days of babies, when I felt so overwhelmed. He did night feeds, night winding, early morning waking and everything else I needed. Let your man help, William will be an amazing Dad, just trust him.</span></div>
<div style="-webkit-composition-fill-color: rgba(130, 98, 83, 0.0976563); -webkit-composition-frame-color: rgba(191, 107, 82, 0.496094); -webkit-tap-highlight-color: rgba(26, 26, 26, 0.292969); font-family: Noteworthy; font-size: 18px; line-height: 24px;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="-webkit-composition-fill-color: rgba(130, 98, 83, 0.0976563); -webkit-composition-frame-color: rgba(191, 107, 82, 0.496094); -webkit-tap-highlight-color: rgba(26, 26, 26, 0.292969); font-family: Noteworthy; font-size: 18px; line-height: 24px;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">5. Treat yourself. Make sure you look after you, as well as the baby in those early weeks. It's so easy to forget, I seriously forgot to wash on several occasions, and you end up feeling low and miserable, thus being a less good mum. A few minutes if you time, to paint your nails, put on some make up, or have a lie down, makes the world of difference when life gets overwhelming.</span></div>
<div style="-webkit-composition-fill-color: rgba(130, 98, 83, 0.0976563); -webkit-composition-frame-color: rgba(191, 107, 82, 0.496094); -webkit-tap-highlight-color: rgba(26, 26, 26, 0.292969); font-family: Noteworthy; font-size: 18px; line-height: 24px;">

I have heavily highlighted, fine hair, which needs a lot of tlc, especially after a day of sun and sea saturation. These are products are all going in my suitcase....<br>
<br>
Aveda SunCare<div><br></div><div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhrtzaFpsYmlxdiobPX6uMWB3o5eAydMxrMMBaymKj0QGSAXNsHylKn6T8viYGfphWasyNNL7mxzGsz1NP_AuEq-kCaxUvjenvFNt57AxeQMXPkW5KcLIoSfRRbWyn_zGVUWrpuywU4laNJ/s640/blogger-image-929000150.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhrtzaFpsYmlxdiobPX6uMWB3o5eAydMxrMMBaymKj0QGSAXNsHylKn6T8viYGfphWasyNNL7mxzGsz1NP_AuEq-kCaxUvjenvFNt57AxeQMXPkW5KcLIoSfRRbWyn_zGVUWrpuywU4laNJ/s640/blogger-image-929000150.jpg"></a></div><br>
<br>
Regular reader will know that I love Aveda. The products always smell amazing, and are gentle enough to use on children (Fifi uses Shampure on her hair!), but effective at the same time. Their Suncare range is designed to protect hair for up to 16 hours from UV, salt and chlorine. They have three key products, a shampoo (which also doubles as a great shower gel, perfect for sun exposed skin), which is very gentle yet removes all of the impurities picked up from the pool or beach. It's packed full of coconut oil, an ingredient I use all the time, so leaves your hair soft and clean. Follow this with the after sun hair masque, which packs a hefty punch of moisture into your fragile follicles. I leave it on as a mask over night, after a lots of sun exposure, and rinse it out the following morning, for baby soft locks. Finally, the protective hair veil, is weightless and smells delicious, and designed to protect hair whilst in the sunshine. It all works for me, and ensures my hair survives even the sunniest of days!<br>

This is a new discovery for me, and it's a good one! Kiki Make Up have developed a brilliant range of sun protection designed for your hair, with all sorts of clever technology involved. The dry oil spray is great for dry hair like mine, as it gives a bit of sheen and softness, whilst protecting against the sun. The after sun conditioner is also brilliant for damaged locks. My hair is always a tangled mess after swimming, but this conditioner detangles and makes hair silky and soft.<br>
