Heavenly Handcreams

What with three loads of laundry a day, countless bottles and beakers to wash up and bathing babies every evening, my hands have been feeling a bit sore a dry. So, I thought a post on my favourite hand creams and treats was in order. Here are my top 5 hand remedies for rough, chapped hands.

1. Neutrogena Norwegian Formula Concentrated Hand Cream

The best hand cream in its price range. It really does soothe sore, dry hands, but brilliantly does not leave them overly greasy, unlike most cheaper brands. Great for night time, as it takes a bit longer than some creams to fully soak in, and you'll wake up with gorgeous hands! A tiny dab is all you need for soft, supple skin. I sometimes rub it on my lips too, if they are feeling chapped, it tastes a bit funny, but does the job! The range also includes an anti-ageing and every day formula, which are a little less rich, so great for daytime.

2. Lanolips Rose Balm Intense

Another very intensive treat for dry hands, this one is lightly scented with rose oil, and packed full of lanolin. It really is an intensive treat, and a little easier to rub in than the Neutrogena cream. The packaging is wonderfully kitsch and pink, which I love! I also use this one at bedtime.

3. Bliss Glamour Gloves

Not a hand cream, but a pair of gel lined gloves that you wear overnight, with a good layer of hand cream on your hands, to give you the softest hands going. I'm not going to fib, I rarely keep them on overnight, as my hands get hot, but I do like to leave them on for an hour or two in the evening, after a bath, to give my hands a really moisture injection.

4. Jo Malone Vitamin E Nourishing Hand Treatment

A fantastic, easily absorbed, lighter hand cream. This is ideal to leave in your handbag or by the sink, as it sinks in very quickly and feels wonderful as you rub it in. It really isn't greasy (you may have noticed, I'm not keen on greasy hand creams), and delivers fantastic results.

5. Dermalogica Multivitamin Hand and Nail Treatment

If you are looking for an anti-ageing hand cream, this is the one for you. Packed full of ingredients, specifically included for their anti-ageing and dark spot reducing properties (like liquorice extract and sweet almond oil), it's a hand treatment rather than a quick dab of cream. Rub it in and try not to wash your hands for a few hours, and in a week or two your hands will look younger. Mine did!
