Barbarella

Last night I was invited to the launch of a fantastic new club called Barbarella on the Fulham Road. Following a £2million refit, Barbarella has relaunched into a stylish restaurant, bar and club. Picture dark panelled walls, eclectic pictures and waitresses dresses in pin-up style outfits, designed by Pearl Lowe.

As we arrived, we were ushered down the covered walkway into the subterranean entrance, and met by trays of champagne, canapés and some very beautiful people, strutting their stuff in the most elegant of surroundings. Unlike lots of clubs and bars, this one oozes sophistication, it almost feels like a sumptuous living room in a beautiful townhouse, rather than cold, uber-modern design. The mirrored dancefloor is pretty special, especially if you want to check out your dance moves (Mr. G had to be physically restrained).

The cocktail menu is fabulous, a really great mix of classics and new drinks, and the food that I tried was delicious. Despite lashing rain (and Mr. G arriving in a plastic poncho, it was grim), we had a fabulous night, celeb spotting and pretending to be young again! I know I'll be heading back to Barbarella just as soon as I can book a babysitter.

Barbarella, 428 Fulham Road, SW6.
