Sweet Charity

I find there is always an amazing charity on my radar, at any given moment, and it can be so hard to decide what to donate your cash or time to. However, in the last few months I've been involved in a couple of local (Fulham based) charities, which are about helping children. They are both incredible causes, which deserve so much support, so I thought I'd share some details.

First up, is a charity which is very close to my heart. Isla's Brighter Future Fund, is a Great Ormond Street Hospital based charity, raising much needed funds for a consortium dedicated to improve research and treatment into childhood, high risk brain tumours. Isla was the most beautiful little girl, a friend and a playmate, who we all miss every day. Isla's amazing Dad Mikey is cycling 1000 miles, visiting all of the places that Isla went to, with his peloton of cycling support (including the very unfit Mr. G), all hoping to raise £250,000 for this amazing cause. Another amazing cause, is Borne, a charity based at Chelsea and Westminster hospital (the wonderful hospital who looked after Arthur when he was sick), who's aim is to prevent death and disability in childbirth and create lifelong health for babies and mothers, with a focus on premature birth, heart disease in pregnancy and cerebal palsy, all things you pray will never happen to you or your child. Next week they are holding a Midsummer Tea Party at Cupcake in Fulham on the 21st June from 10-12, with face painting, balloon modeling, photoshoots and all manner of fun things to do and eat. For details, call Rosita on 0207 186 6000 or  email mumcierge@cupcakemum.com. Tickets are £25 for adults, kids go free. Visit borne.org.uk for more details of the charity and research.
