A few weeks ago we headed off on a family holiday to the gorgeous Anassa hotel in Cyprus. Any regular readers will know that we have not had much success in the family holiday department since children came along, struggling with jet lag, lots of illness and generally finding that our children hate travelling further than the M25. However, I had heard wonderful things about the Anassa hotel, and it's fabulous creche, and decided that we just had to try it out.
The flight out was long, arduous and involved lots of apologies to neighbouring passengers for the sheer volume of my children's screams, and we arrived at the hotel frazzled and exhausted. But, as we walked into the breath taking entrance hall, full of cool limestone and gently bubbling water features, the stress started to dissipate. We were taken to our rooms straight away, as the children needed to sleep. We had opted for interconnecting Garden suites, which were more than ample for a family of four. Fifi crawled into her super king sized bed, and commented on how soft the sheets were compared to her "scratchy ones at home" (sadly, Frette don't make cot sized bed linen just yet) while Arthur fell into a slumber in his cot.
The rest of the week involved a mixture of lounging by the pool, swimming in the sea, eating ice creams, hiring boats and swimming with wild dolphins and a few visits to the divine spa (the QMS Medicosmetics facial was incredible). The children enjoyed the creche, and we felt so happy leaving them in the capable hands of Alex and Lorna while we relaxed for the first time in years!

It's such a great hotel for children, really well thought through. There are several swimming pools, so we found it easy to find a quiet corner to teach Fifi to swim and splash. Our fussy eating children loved the choices at breakfast, and tucked into the evening buffet and BBQ. A few evenings, when they were too tired to stay up and go to the restaurant for dinner, we ordered it to the room, which is complimentary for children under 2.
I also adored the hotel shop, which had the most wonderful edit of summer fashion from labels like Heidi Klein, Jimmy Choo, Prada and Vilebrequin. It was my birthday whilst we were away, and I was rather pleased that Mr.G had forgotten my present and had to hurriedly find one.....!
We had such a wonderful stay at Anassa. It's a great option for a family beach holiday without the long haul flight. My only real criticism was that it is quite expensive (bottled water is €5.50, which adds up when you are trying to keep 2 children hydrated in thirty degree heat). But, if your budget can stretch, this is definitely not a hotel to be missed, a combination of super luxe glamour with family friendly facilities.....heaven!

I have to say - Cyprus getting really popular nowadays! And little one's LOVE to be there. Your holiday accommodations looks amazing, we bought something a bit down to earth, since we stayed for more than month. I have to say Pafos was marvelous. Right?
